“To break the rules, you must first master them.” Tradition and avant-garde are inextricably intertwined at Audemars Piguet.
THE ROYAL OAK
The Royal Oak made its debut in 1972 as the world’s first luxury sports watch made in stainless steel. It overturned all prevailing codes. This timepiece beyond compare opened a new area in the watchmaking world and is today an iconic watch. Its selfwinding movement with a central rotor was the thinnest in the world, while the piece boasts an octagonal bezel held by eight hexagonal screws, a dial adorned with a "Tapisserie" guilloché or engine-turned pattern, and a bracelet perfectly integrated into the case.
ROYAL OAK RD#2 PERPETUAL CALENDAR ULTRA-THIN
The Royal Oak RD#2, the world’s thinnest Selfwinding Perpetual calendar at just 6.30 mm thick, marks a new watchmaking record. The challenge has been to re-engineer a three-storey movement into a single level of 2.89mm, making it ultra-thin while combining and re-arranging functions to boost ergonomy, efficiency, robustness and reliability.
RD#1 : ROYAL OAK CONCEPT SUPERSONNERIE
The Royal Oak Concept Supersonnerie presents a newly developed case construction that prevents sound absorption, boosting amplification. In traditional minute repeater technology, the gongs are fixed to the plate. In the Royal Oak Concept Supersonnerie they are attached to a new device, a material spread beneath the movement that acts as a soundboard. Now, the gongs transmit vibrations directly to the soundboard – not to the mainplate. The technology functions like the upper body of a guitar. With the vibration air system improved, sound quality, tone and amplification are richer.
Royal Oak Frosted gold
As the women’s Royal Oak celebrates its 40th anniversary, Audemars Piguet unveils the Royal Oak Frosted Gold. A collaboration with jewellery designer Carolina Bucci, this contemporary timepiece is rooted in an ancient Florentine technique.
The Royal Oak Frosted Gold enriches Audemars Piguet’s tradition of experimenting with jewellery techniques. It embodies a singular, elegant design while retaining the bold character of the Royal Oak.
