Thin, thinner, thinnest

It took 5 years of research and development. Enhancing the Royal Oak design codes, Audemars Piguet pushes watchmaking boundaries yet again with the Royal Oak RD#2 prototype - a Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra-thin model. The ingenious redesign of the perpetual calendar function constitutes a tribute to AP’s long history of producing world premiers.

A new record-breaker

The Royal Oak RD#2, the world’s thinnest Selfwinding Perpetual calendar at just 6.3 mm thick, marks a new watchmaking record. At just 6.30 mm, the redesigned case shaves almost 2 mm off the Royal Oak Extra Thin Jumbo.

Reinventing the calendar watch

The challenge has been to re-engineer a three-storey movement into a single level, making it ultra-thin while combining and re-arranging functions to boost ergonomy, efficiency and robustness.
