Rebuilding drystone walls, 1995

The miles and miles of drystone walls, which give such rustic charm to the pasturelands running along the peak district known as the “Vaud Jura park”, represent a manmade heritage that is endangered by the disappearance of wall-building skills and by the high costs of restoring them. Training courses for wall-builders and the restoration of several stretches of walls in the “Combe des Begnines” area have contributed to safeguarding this heritage.

Discovery trail, Le Brassus, 2005

The Risoud forest is an ecosystem that is unique in Western Europe, representing a vestige of the primary forest that used to cover the Jura. A discovery trail has been created by the Forestry Department of the village of Le Chenit. Ten explanatory panels enable visitors to discover the wealth of its flora and fauna, as well as the human activity over the centuries that has shaped the face of this great forest.

In 1999 and 2005, the Foundation contributed to burying the high and medium-voltage power lines criss-crossing the Vallée de Joux.
