For the second year in a row, the setting for this exclusive event was the prestigious and highly demanding Liberty National Golf Course, with its breathtaking view over Manhattan’s skyscrapers and the silhouette of the Statue of Liberty, the main attraction of several approach shots. The scramble game formula allowed guests of the Haute Horology Manufacture from Le Brassus to test their skills against the Audemars Piguet “Dream Team” of golfers. On the day, the array of grand champions consisted of Keegan Bradley, Bud Cauley, Darren Clarke, Victor Dubuisson, Sir Nick Faldo, Louis Oosthuizen, Ian Poulter and Henrik Stenson as well as professional Jonas Blixt.
The day after the second Major tournament of the season, the US Open 2014, which took place in Pinehurst, NC from June 12 to 15, Xavier Nolot, CEO, Audemars Piguet North America, introduced the nine distinguished professionals and highlighted the excellent performances of World number 2 Henrik Stenson and Keegan Bradley who finished joint fourth. He then asked Sir Nick Faldo to commentate the demonstration of their skills by his fellow ambassadors on the driving-range. In a fatherly spirit Audemars Piguet’s first ambassador since 1989 entertained the guests with playful anecdotes.
Golf as Haute Horology are two practices which require a combination of fervour and precision, technique and artistic talent, and above all, to be driven by rigorous discipline. At the end of the 2014 Invitational, the Audemars Piguet “Dream Team” of golfers once again perfectly embodied the brand’s philosophy “To break the rules, you must first master them”.
