The highly anticipated Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Cup 2014 jointly presented by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and renowned Swiss Haute Horology brand Audemars Piguet took place at the Sha Tin Racecourse today. Taking place for the 16th consecutive year, this International Group 1 race attracted top horses, trainers and jockeys from around the world to compete for lucrative prize money of HK$14 million.
Prior to the race day in order to celebrate the occasion, the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Audemars Piguet hosted the Audemars Piguet QEII Cup Gala Party at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal on April 25th, and invited Ms. Rosamund Kwan as the special guest to join Mr. T Brian Stevenson, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr. Oliviero Bottinelli, Managing Director of Audemars Piguet Asia Pacific, and Mr. David von Gunten, Chief Executive Officer of Audemars Piguet Hong Kong and China, to officiate the event. The glamorous night was also attended by distinguished guests and celebrities, including Mr. Cecil Chao, Mr. Karson Choi, Mr. Albert Wong and Mrs. Pauline Wong, Ms. Priscilla Ku, Mr. Kam Kwok Leung, Ms. Gigi Ho, Ms. Mona Ch’ng, Ms. Jocelyn Luko, Ms. Jessica Jann and Ms. Juju Chan.
Inspired by the Audemars Piguet QEII Cup 2014 Royal Oak Offshore Diver limited edition watch, the cruise terminal was transformed into an opulent party venue adorned in dark grey and rose gold, offering over 300 guests a wonderful setting to enjoy drinks and refreshments. An innovative holographic performance show kicked off the evening and delighted guests with an illusory and sensational experience created through the ingenious 3D projections of light and shadows.
During the race day celebrations, Mr. Oliviero Bottinelli, Managing Director of Audemars Piguet Asia and Mr. David von Gunten, Chief Executive Officer of Audemars Piguet Hong Kong and China, expressed their anticipation and excitement for the Audemars Piguet QEII Cup in each of their opening speeches. The 16-year collaboration between Audemars Piguet and The Hong Kong Jockey Club has been driven by a shared vision of pursuing excellence. While enjoying the exciting races, guests were welcomed to visit the Audemars Piguet exhibition area to witness the brand’s traditional and exceptional craftsmanship.
