On 11 June 2013, the first night of Art Basel's Swiss show, Swiss haute horology brand Audemars Piguet hosted a prestigious first night party. After a successful event at the inaugural Art Basel in Hong Kong, the opening night party in Basel marked Audemars Piguet's first year as a new partner with Art Basel. Taking place in a specially transformed space at the Volkshaus in Basel, the party was illuminated with projections of work by acclaimed British photographer Dan Holdsworth, who has been commissioned to document the Vallée de Joux, the birthplace of Audemars Piguet. The party was attended by over 300 guests, including collectors and gallerists who enjoyed a live performance by chart-topping French turntablist group C2C.

Welcoming guests and giving a speech at the event, Jasmine Audemars, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Audemars Piguet, said: 'This is an exciting moment, the first time Audemars Piguet has been present at Art Basel as Associate Sponsor, and we are delighted to be welcoming so many collectors, friends and artists at the Volkshaus this evening. We have a long tradition of the finest craftsmanship and pride ourselves on our creative vision and spirit of independence. Dan Holdsworth's evocative images of our home, the Vallée de Joux, are the perfect way to introduce Audemars Piguet to art enthusiasts.'

Until 16 June, Audemars Piguet will welcome guests to its dedicated space in the Collectors' Lounge at Art Basel where it is showcasing Dan Holdsworth's photographs of the Vallée de Joux. To celebrate the project, Audemars Piguet has also created three collectors' wooden boxes each containing ten limited-edition prints of his images, as well as an exclusive set of 1,000 books illustrated by Holdsworth. The lounge also features a presentation centred on Audemars Piguet's iconic stainless steel 'Royal Oak' model and visitors can view an historic display about this and other classic pieces from the brand's 138-year history. A watchmaker's bench and guided tours by watch specialists complement the experience.

Pursuing its commitment to creativity and innovation, Audemars Piguet has initiated a long-term partnership with Art Basel and will join Art Basel as a global Associate Partner in Miami Beach from 5 to 8 December, 2013.
