Rory McIlroy is currently 3rd in the Official World Golf Ranking. He had a successful amateur career, topping the World Amateur Golf Ranking for one week as a 17-year-old in 2007. Later that year he turned professional and soon established himself on the European Tour. He scored his first win on the European Tour in 2009, and on the PGA Tour in 2010. He represented Europe in the 2010 Ryder Cup. On June 19th 2011, he won the U.S. Open, his first major.

At the close of the four-day tournament, Anthony Kim, another Audemars Piguet Ambassador, forced Rory McIlroy into a playoff, which Rory won by one shot.

McIlroy said after the tournament, “It’s something that I feel like I can still get better at is winning and putting yourself in the position to win when you’re not playing your best”.

Lee Westwood, another Audemars Piguet Ambassador, also put in a great performance, hitting a hole in one on the 12th hole and finishing fifth at 12-under par.
