Audemars Piguet welcomes ballerina Svetlana Zakharova as an ambassador. Portrait of a star.

Lauded for her amazing virtuosity, dancer Svetlana Zakharova is collecting prizes in Russia and around the world, where her talent is unanimously recognized. From Carmen to Cinderella, from Gisèle to Swan Lake, she has made her mark in the world’s best-known ballets, bringing a unique and very personal interpretation to all the leading roles. By enlarging her repertoire to include contemporary ballet, Svetlana is now considered an all-round artist, an ultra-modern classical dancer who is able to master all the styles and trends in ballet.

Born June 10, 1979 in the Ukraine, Svetlana entered the Kiev Choreographic School at the age of 10. When she was 17, she joined the Mariinsky company and was promoted to principal dancer the following season. During the 2003/2004 season, the ballerina joined the Bolshoi Ballet.  She was crowned a People's Artist of Russia in 2008, and she was the first Russian star ballerina to dance at La Scala in Milan.

Slender and elegant, Svetlana embodies the ideal ballerina, romantic and contemporary at the same time. Her rigor and high professional standards, her amazing technique, her ability to breathe emotion and sensibility into the dramatic roles she portrays, raise this mythical artist, crowned with numerous prizes, to the rank of a prestigious icon.
